Jessica Alba Caricature

Description

Back in '05 around the time the first Fantastic Four movie came out I attempted a caricature of Jessica Alba, which you can view here: [link]
With that drawing I was suggesting that this obviously attractive Latina actress shouldn't bleach her hair and skin to succumb to Hollywood's concept of beauty, even if it's to play Sue Storm (Cast a blonde actress, fer Christ's sake. Kristen Bell would be great).

As the next couple years came around and my caricaturing became a bit more detailed, I came to feel that I could do a better job on Alba. By this time she'd let her natural hair color and skin pigments return and I was able to reference the REAL Alba, not the Barbie Doll Alba. So this piece is what I came up with. I tried to allow myself to accentuate specific features without getting too hung up on making her uber-attractive (though I still feel I made her attractive in the end). I tacked on her subtle chin mole, accentuated the dark circles around her eyes, showcased the high forehead, and just for fun, had her indulging in the comic books which provided her with some of her best screen roles.

I'm very satisfied with this piece. I'm finding myself going back and re-trying several caricatures that I've tried before in an attempt to get it just right. This has happened with Lindsay Lohan (Got her after two tries), Keira Knightley (Two tries), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Two again) and Hillary Duff (Dozens of tries and I'm still not entirely satisfied). But with Alba, I think I'm finally got it, and can consider this the best and final version. I'll just wait a few years and see if I still feel that way.
