Jake and Bender are voiced by the same person, right? Is that part of the joke?

Yeah, and in the Futrama episode, Leela and the Jeanstalk, Bender and Jake have a conversation! :p

Yes, though there wasn't an intended joke to this piece. I was commissioned to draw this for a comic convention where voice artists from both shows would be guests, so I was asked to draw all these characters together.

Well you know that they actually did make a small crossover right?

I'm actually more curious as to how the Ice King manage to get those 3 to kidnap PB for him lol

Truly inspired!  Especially since Jake and Bender have the same voice actor.  Which led to a recent cameo by Finn and Jake in Futurama
Jake: What time is it?
Bender: Time for you to shut up!

Too bad it went unused, this is really well done.

I enjoyed Futurama a lot.
I guess Bender and Jake the dog are voiced by the same people.

Anyhow, this is a great piece of work.
I bet you couldn't have predicted that a huge fan of your work would like your work :P

Nice work Jay. You really capture these opposing styles well.

Thanks--I used to feel confident in my ability to draw on model. Now, it's a real struggle to get things just right.

I can imagine. I've never been too good with fan art.

I typically prefer to just draw established characters in my own style. If you look at any of my Popeye art, you'll notice that none of it is necessarily on-model--I just pick and choose elements from my favorite Popeye eras and then put my own stink on it. =0)

Exactly! To me, that's what makes good fan art. Taking the reestablished work, and putting your own spin on it. For instance, I love taking characters and giving them big noses, goofy poses, and perplexed expressions.

Totally! Make it recognizable, but make it your own, that's my motto.

Uncanny resemblance!  Never got into Adventure Time, and I haven't seen very many episodes of Futurama but I do like it.  Nice work, and as Bender would say, "Bite my frozen metal ass!"

Thanks! I'm not particularly a fan of either show, but they're simple enough characters that I knew I could stay on model easily.
